From hobby to passion, from passion to entrepreneur: my story of life and overcoming adversity

More than 10 years ago, in my beautiful homeland, the Dominican Republic, I began what I never imagined would become the great passion of my life: car sales. It all started as a simple hobby. I would accompany my best friend to her husband's dealership, just to spend time together and hang out. I went two or even three times a week, not knowing that this environment, this world of sales, would ignite a spark in me that would never be extinguished.

Little by little, I fell in love with the business. interact with customers, seeing how each sale was an opportunity to connect, serve, and grow. They saw my potential and offered me a permanent job. What started as a hobby became my vocation.

With hard work, discipline, and a lot of enthusiasm, I also started buying and reselling my own vehicles. Each step brought me closer to my dream. It was a period of great learning and personal and professional growth.

Eight years ago, I got married, and almost three years ago, life took me in a new direction: moving to the United States to be with my husband. Leaving my country was not easy. I had everything I loved there: my mother, my family, my friends, my surroundings, and above all, the freedom and warmth of my people. I heard many voices telling me, “You're going to start from scratch there,” and yes, I confess that I arrived full of fear and doubts, but also with a firm faith in God and in the belief that everything done with love and perseverance bears fruit.

Once in the US, I started knocking on doors. I visited several dealerships of well-known brands: Toyota, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Hyundai... but the language was a barrier. I didn't give up. I changed my strategy and focused my search on used car dealerships, where the clientele is mostly Latino. And that's how, at the second dealership I visited, Point Auto Sales, They opened the door that would change my life.

I have been working there since January 2023, and to my surprise, the owner—now an elderly gentleman—decided to retire... and offered me the opportunity to become his partner.Yes! Today, I am an entrepreneur in the United States, working in the same field that I have been passionate about since I started out.

This is a new challenge, a new chapter, and a dream I've always had: to own a dealership. I achieved it with faith, perseverance, and God's blessing. And this... this is just the beginning.

Today I want to say to you who dream, who fear, who doubt: don't give up. Believe in yourself, work with passion, and put God first. Dreams do come true. And when you do what you love, no change is a setback... it's just the beginning of a new blessing.
